Professor E. Agabiti-Rosei has been full Professor of Internal Medicine at the University of Brescia (Italy) since 1990.
He is the former Director of the Clinica Medica at the University of Brescia and Chairman (2003 2017) of the Department of Internal Medicine, Azienda Spedali Civili, University Hospital, Brescia. He was Chairman (2010-1016) of the Department of Clinical and Experimental Sciences at the University of Brescia. He is graduated in medicine and surgery at the University of Perugia and specialized in Cardiology and Internal Medicine at the University of Pisa. He has spent few years in prestigious international research centers as visiting Research Fellow or visiting Professor with the support of institutional grants (CNR, Italy – MRC, Great Britain), in Glasgow, GB, BP Unit (1975-1977), in Basel, Switzerland, Kantonspital (1978), in Cleveland, Ohio, US, Cleveland Clinic (1982).
He has lectured internationally on topics related to hypertension and cardiovascular diseases and has also been responsible of organizing official workshops and symposia of the European Society of Hypertension, and of the European Society of Cardiology.
He is the author of about 900 scientific publications in peer reviewed journals (more than 28.000 citations, google scholar 10.11.2017).
He is a Council member of several national and international scientific societies (including Società Italiana della Ipertensione Arteriosa, Società Italiana di Medicina Interna, Società Italiana di Nefrocardiologia, European Society of Hypertension, Fellow European Society of Cardiology). He is also member of Società Italiana di Cardiologia and of the International Society of Hypertension.
Scientific Referee or Editorial Board Member of several scientific journals.He has been President of the European Society of Hypertension (2015-2017).
He has been President of the Italian Society of Hypertension and Chairman of Working Group Hypertension and the Heart of the European Society of Cardiology. He was also member of the Science Council of the European Society of Cardiology and of the Executive Committee of the European Council for Cardiovascular Research. He has received the Peter Sleight Award of the ESH in 2011.
He was a member of the Steering Committee of several randomized multicentre clinical trials in cardiovascular care and received grants for research from public and private institutions. He is responsible of the ongoing large population study Vobarno in East Lombardia (since 1993)
